Post subject:  Repeater with Single SPot Hosted

I am using the single spot hosted wifigator. I have a Linksys WRT-54GL as the main AP, with one Dlink DWL-710 repeater. This combo has worked in the past, with different AP software. People who try to connect to the wifigator login page through the repeater do not get IP addresses assigned. Isn't this supposed to work? Is there some special config required?

Is the repeater set up in bridge mode, or do customers get their IP Address from the repeater? Bridge mode will get ipaddresses from Chilli from the main router, making everything work. The other possibility is to set up both units with Chillispot installed (change subnets of one of them to something like 192.168.182.4 insted of .1, and then MAC assign permission for the repeater in wifigator.) The second is my option of choice as long as the repeater is not accessible, since if default setup is used, will allow the LAN portas on the repeater to access freely and without authentication is needed for office computers, etc.... just remember if you leave the LAN out of chilli, anyoned that can access the router, will be able to plug in directly for free access

Thanks for the suggestions. It is supposed to be in bridge mode, but there is very limited configuration available on the Dlink. I am almost through this gig, and will use a wrt54 gl next time.

Thanks again....

Realy shouldconsider scrapping that idea and migrating to mesh as you replace units
