Nice.. I'll give it a shot... If it pans out, I will roll it into the distro...

Good job on that one.. We were missing a web statistics feature.. . 8)

Jason.. Would you write the detailed instructions on how to install this for these other guys?

I would very much appreciate that and I am sure they would too...

I already did it, but I would rather not stop and have to write it at the moment if possible, but I will if you don't have the time.. no problem..

Thanks,

Chuck

 Post subject: To install phpTrafficA,
PostPosted: Fri May 02, 2008 9:19 am
To install phpTrafficA,

Download the most recent stable version phpTrafficA-2.0.tgz or phpTrafficA-2.0.zip

http://soft.zoneo.net/phpTrafficA/Files/download.php?l=en&file=phpTrafficA-2.0.tgz
http://soft.zoneo.net/phpTrafficA/Files/download.php?l=en&file=phpTrafficA-2.0.zip

i used the zip

After download extract \Downloads\phpTrafficA-2.0\phpTrafficA-2.0
rename the second folder to what you want phpTrafficA-2.0 ---> traffic
and start WinSCP locate your /var/www/ and copy accross the new traffic folder

whilst that is copying accros navigate to http://111.111.111.111/phpmyadmin/ if on on local http://localhost/phpmyadmin/
log in and type in Create new database the name of your folder that you copied accross "traffic" press Create

after all has been copied accross in WinSCP navigate to /var/www/traffic/Php/config_sql.php open and change

<?php
// mySQL configuration
// used for accessing database
$server = "localhost"; // replace by you mySQL server
$user = "root"; // replace by your login to mySQL server
$password = "ifiw321"; // replace by your password to mySQL server
$base = "traffic"; // replace by the database where you want to create tables to mySQL server
?>

save and exit

next open

/var/www/traffic/Php/config.php and change
// Table with phpTrafficA configuration, you can change it if you wish
$config_table = "phpTrafficA_conf";
// Administrator password
$adminpwd = "change_me";
// Cookie text (text displayed when loggued in as administrator)
$cookieTxt = "Admin";

save and exit

next using WinSCP navigate to /var/www/traffic/ and right click tmp directory and goto properties change permisions to rwxrwxrwx 0777

next open up a browser and point to

http://111.111.111.111/traffic/Install/install.php or http://localhost/traffic/Install/install.php

this is were you will get a problem if you havnt followed to the letter so go back if showing an error

Success job done nearly

in browser point to http://111.111.111.111/traffic/index.php or http://localhost/traffic/index.php

top right corner type in your admin name same as what you changed in config.php

now you have more links top right click config (spanner screwdriver)

in Domain name type your domain name without the http or www (hotspot.com)

in Table name type what you want (hotspot_traffic)

If your site is tagged as Public, all visitors will be allowed to see the statistics. If it is tagged as Private, you will need to log in to access the statistics.

If you choose the Trim URL, all pages like index.php?lang=en or index.php?lang=fr will be stored as index.php. Otherwise, they will be treated as separate pages.

If you choose the Count Bots option, visits from robots will be counted in, otherwise, they won't

If you choose the Counter option, phpTrafficA will also work as a counter: it will display the total number of hits to the page.

Click "submit".

Note: for new website, some statistics pages may look a bit strange, you need to wait long enough (a few days) for the statistics to have an actual meaning.

Track pages

to track page you need to incert some code into every page you want to track mainly the index page and maybe the hospotlogin page

at top right next to config link click Reminder

No image (local site only):
Somewhere in your php code, include the following lines:

Do not use this use the code that is given to you when you click reminder

$sid="46529";
include("/var/www//traffic/write_logs.php");

Image, with php:

Somewhere in your php code, include the following lines:

Do not use this use the code that is given to you when you click reminder

$referer = base64_encode($_SERVER["HTTP_REFERER"]);
$thispage = base64_encode($_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"]);
$id = "46529";
$time = time();
echo "<img src=\"http://192.168.1.117/traffic/count.php?sid=$id&p=$thispage&r=$referer&t=$time\" alt=\"\">";

Image, no php:

Copy the file below and save it as stats.js. On top of your page, in the head section, include stats.js:

Do not use this use the code that is given to you when you click reminder

<script language="JavaScript" src="stats.js"></script>
put just after

<html>
<head>
<script language="JavaScript" src="stats.js"></script>

Later in the html, include the following lines:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
stats(46529);
//--></script>

put just after

</body>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
stats(326668);
//--></script>

</html>

bottom left you will see File to download: stats.js place in www folder but rename it stats.js
look again that stats.js is really stats.js.php make sure you rename it stats.js

copy the new html files or php files back to the /var/www/
and you are good to go

fire up a page you are tracking

now open up http://111.111.111.111/traffic/index.php or http://localhost/traffic/index.php login and on right press get stats!

And the administrator?
phpTrafficA has the ability to stop logging for specified browsers, for exemple the webmaster. This is acheived by setting a cookie on the webmaster's browser.
To load the cookie, go to the Cookie link, and follow the instructions at the bottom of the page. Follow the same procedure if you wish to remove the cookie.
On all pages, you'll see a label to remind you that your visit is not recorded. All other users will not see this label, and their visits will be recorded.

good luck and installing ask away i might know the answer but as far as using it hmm im learning to so ill be asking you lol

Nice stats, I will set that up on my www server, I need to add the cookie thing to my stats.

I like the analytical stats but sometimes I like real time stats, this will be a freebee download when I get to zipping it all up.

if someone contacts me at 9:00 am requesting a quote, I can look at my stats and see how they found me and what keywords they used and a few other details.

http://www.wlmark.com/hits_viewer.php

the first half has an old database so some of the country codes do not match.

Roll in urchin stats and you have a complete system.

BTW almost guaranteed that if you do not live in Turkey, your Turkish visitors are out to hack your site. Thet have gotten soo many sites it's sick.

http://wlmark.com/gdlib/

scroll down to the Spy Attackers and google for any one of those names, for instance, Akrep__KraL

I will be making an addon script that will only display a single html page for a number of countries, this will keep these guys out of my scripts ontil they use a proxy but they don't seem concerned.

Cool.. Thank you Jason... You are awesome...

Those of you who don't want to mess with this install can just download the iso again after the weekend, because I am waiting for a couple of things to get finished, which they will right away, and then I am going to post an updated iso again, so anyone istalling that iso will have this already installed..

Chuck,

This setup sounds pretty cool, but I think it got left out on my slicehost. I was gonna try and install it, but I noticed a link in my admin panel called Web-Stats next to another option. The link is dead, so I'm thinking that's where this software is suppose to go. I'll wait and see what you say, just thought it would be a useful tool.

This came along after your slicehost machine was setup, so it is not in there.. But I updated your menu, so it has a link to it there..

All you have to do is install it like this thread says to do and you can load it right up..

I still haven't figured out how to configure the damn thing correctly, so it doesn't tell me anything so far.. I know if can though.. I just need to sit down and learn how to set it up..
